50 years ago, on October 26, 1968, cosmonaut Georgy Beregovoi successfully launched a spacecraft "Soyuz" into orbit, opening the way for new generation ships to space. The beginning of the history of the “Soyuz” was not triumphant - three unmanned launches were unsuccessful It was an experimental flight, the cosmonaut Beregovoi had to work out the docking, however, the program could not be fully completed. But the main thing - the launch and landing of the new ship were successful!

Since then no launches are planned for this date and more over no serious maintenance operations are accomplished. October 24 is also considered to be as fallen rocket specialists memorial day.

Roscosmos has not yet confirmed the exact dates of the launches to the ISS, the discussion is in progress. The launch schedule will be settled after the commission work on the investigation of the Soyuz-FG accident is done, says Vladimir Ustimenko, the Roscosmos representative. Earlier, a number of Russian news agencies announced that the Soyuz MS-11 launch date would be December 3 and the docked Soyuz MS-09 was to be back on December 20.

On October 17,2018 at the Gagarin Cosmonauts Training Center held a press conference with the participation of the executive director of manned space programs of Roscosmos, Hero of the Soviet Union, Hero of Russia, pilot-cosmonaut Sergei Krikalev and Hero of Russia, pilot-cosmonaut Alexei Ovchinin. During the press conference, the journalists heard directly from the participant of the event, Aleksey Ovchinin, what was happening in the spaceship at the time of the accident, and what were the actions of the crew during the emergency situation, that led to the ballistic descent of the spacecraft in 20 km from the city of Dzheskazgan (Kazakhstan).

The State Commission for Investigation of the Emergency Situation with the "Soyuz-FG" launch vehicle and the "Soyuz MS-10" spacecraft under the leadership of the General Director of Roscosmos State Corporation Dmitry Rogozin began to work at Baikonur on October 10.
