The most important space date of this year is approaching - 20 years of the ISS! Thanks to the crew of the Soyuz MS-08 spacecraft, we can now enjoy new photos of the International Space Station!

50 years ago, on October 26, 1968, cosmonaut Georgy Beregovoi successfully launched a spacecraft "Soyuz" into orbit, opening the way for new generation ships to space. The beginning of the history of the “Soyuz” was not triumphant - three unmanned launches were unsuccessful It was an experimental flight, the cosmonaut Beregovoi had to work out the docking, however, the program could not be fully completed. But the main thing - the launch and landing of the new ship were successful!

On October 25 at 03.15 Moscow time Russian Aerospace Forces operational crew successfully launched Soyuz -2.1b booster with Russian Ministry of Defense satellite from Plesetsk launchsite located in Arkhalgelsk region.

October 24 is considered to be the black day in the history of Russian space exploration. On this date within three years period Russian cosmonautics faced two terrible accidents with heavy losses. Since then no launches are planned for this date and more over no serious maintenance operations are accomplished. October 24 is also considered to be as fallen rocket specialists memorial day.

Roscosmos has not yet confirmed the exact dates of the launches to the ISS, the discussion is in progress. The launch schedule will be settled after the commission work on the investigation of the Soyuz-FG accident is done, says Vladimir Ustimenko, the Roscosmos representative. Earlier, a number of Russian news agencies announced that the Soyuz MS-11 launch date would be December 3 and the docked Soyuz MS-09 was to be back on December 20.

October 19, 2018 The RSC Energia specialists will take part in a number of scientific research conducted by the Russian Institute of Biomedical problems. SIRIUS (Scientific International Research In Unique Terrestrial Station) is an experiment which is now conducted to prepare for deep-space flights and primarily to the near-lunar station. The research participants will spend from 17 days up to one year isolated in the experimental ground complex of the Institute of Biomedical problems.

On October 17,2018 at the Gagarin Cosmonauts Training Center held a press conference with the participation of the executive director of manned space programs of Roscosmos, Hero of the Soviet Union, Hero of Russia, pilot-cosmonaut Sergei Krikalev and Hero of Russia, pilot-cosmonaut Alexei Ovchinin. During the press conference, the journalists heard directly from the participant of the event, Aleksey Ovchinin, what was happening in the spaceship at the time of the accident, and what were the actions of the crew during the emergency situation, that led to the ballistic descent of the spacecraft in 20 km from the city of Dzheskazgan (Kazakhstan).

The State Commission for the investigation of the emergency situation, that occurred on October 11, 2018 during the launch of the "Soyuz-FG" launch vehicle with the "Soyuz MS-10" spacecraft, began to work at JSC SRC "Progress. All comments, identified during the work, will be analyzed and taken into account in preparation for the launch of the next "Soyuz-FG" launch vehicle.

The Tu-134 aircraft with Russian cosmonaut Alexei Ovchinin and American astronaut Nick Hague landed at the Chkalovsky airfield in Moscow region. The health conditions of the Russian cosmonaut and the American astronaut are fine.

The State Commission for Investigation of the Emergency Situation with the "Soyuz-FG" launch vehicle and the "Soyuz MS-10" spacecraft under the leadership of the General Director of Roscosmos State Corporation Dmitry Rogozin began to work at Baikonur on October 10. Dmitry Rogozin instructed to submit the results of the commission in the near future. Yesterday the crew of "Soyuz MS-10" ( Roscosmos cosmonaut Alexei Ovchinin and NASA astronaut Nick Hague) arrived at Baikonur to conduct an additional survey, at the moment their state of health is good. Today the crew members will arrive in Moscow.
