According to training program on January 20-31 GCTC will conduct autonomous complex survival training on actions in case of off-nominnal landing on marshy and forested terrain in winter. Cosmonauts and astronauts going to the ISS in 2015 and 2016 take part in these winter survival simulations.

In accordance with training conditions the crew has to perform the following operations: changing clothes inside the descent module, building shelters, signaling to search aircrafts, medical treatment of the injured person and cooperation with the search and rescue teams. Survival trainings are monitored by the specialists controlling the process of the trainings as well as by instructors, doctors and psychologists. Upon the completion of these tests specialists will assess the work and actions of all participants.

This time the following crews will take part in the trainings:
January 20-22 – ISS-45/46 mission crew – S.A.Volkov (Roscosmos), A. Mogensen (ESA), GCTC instructor S.V.Talankin)
January 22-24 – МКС-46/47 mission crew -S.V. Zalyotin( Roscosmos), T. Kopra (NASA), T. Peake (ESA);
January 27-29 – ISS 44/45 mission crew O.D. Kononenko (Roscosmos), K.Yui (JAXA), Ch. Lindgren (NASA);
January 30 – A.N. Ovchinin (Roscosmos), O.I. Skripochka (Roscosmos), D. Williams (NASA);
January 31 – G.I.Padalka (Roscosmos), M.B Korniyenko (one year ISS mission) and S. Kelly (one year ISS mission).

At the present time Sergey Volkov’ crew started its winter survival trainings. The cosmonauts have to practice all operations necessary in case of off-nominal landing within 2 days.
