The development of new super heavy booster was included in the new Federal space program for approval, – Roscosmos Head Oleg Ostapenko stated.

At the second stage the booster with 100-120 tons carrying capacity will be developed.

According to Ostapenko the new rocket will be developed using  the Soviet Energia booster basis.

Earlier it was reported that RSC Energia suggests designing new booster on the basis of the most powerful Energia booster but that time the carrying capacity discussed amounted to 70 tons.

New Energia super heavy booster is to set the satellites into geostationary transfer orbit (with a mass up to 8 tons provided that upper stages are used) and into geostationary orbit (with a mass up to 5 tons), to set orbital station’s modules and platforms into low-Earth orbit (not less than 20 tons).

Besides at the present time Russia is developing a series of Angara modular boosters including either light and heavy boosters with carrying capacity from 1,5 to 35 tons.
