Russian Luch-5V and Kazakh KazSat-3 satellites orbited on Monday operate nominally, JSC Reshetnev Information Satellite Systems representative reports.

Proton-M booster with Luch-5V and Kazsat-3 satellites was successfully launched from Baikonur spaceport at 08.25 Moscow time on Monday. Briz-M upper stage set the satellites into the final orbit at 17.17 and 17.57.

“The first communication session showed that both satellites operate nominally, mechanical systems deployment and pointing to the Sun the Earth took place as planned”, -Reschetnev ISS report states.

As Ministry of Defence Aerospace Defence troops press office management representative Colonel Alexey Zolotukhin earlier reported upon the separation of space devices Aerospace Defence troops specialists deorbited Briz-M upper stage from satellites orbit to so-called disposal orbit.

“Briz-M thrusters were ignited several times so that the upper stage got the velocity increment necessary to set it into 43000 km high orbit”, – Zolotukhin stated.

Luch-5V space device is the 3rd satellite in Luch multifunctional relay space system being developed in the framework of Russian Federal space program for 2006-2015. Luch relay system’s aim is to provide Russian ISS segment, low-orbiting space devices, boosters and upper stages with communication with ground-based facilities.
