Russian and American scientists started ambitious cosmonauts’ cognitive psychology studies to elaborate new methods and techniques of cosmonaut training for actions under extreme conditions, – Tomsk State university president Eduard Galazhinsky reported.

According to him laboratory for cognitive studies in the field of space explorations started working at the University.

The experiment involves the following organizations and personalities:  Institute of Strength Physics and Materials Science (Tomsk), Energia Rocket and Space Corporation (Korolev), Harvard University and University of Pennsylvania (USA) and cosmonauts Alexander Kaleri and Sergey Krikalyev.

“We look for new tendencies and elaborate new mechanisms of cosmonauts’ activities control, that will enable them to make right decisions under extreme conditions when a great number of emergent situations may occur. Human factor cannot be neglected. At the present time we are practicing new methods that will enable the cosmonauts safely dock space devices, – Galazhinsky stated.

“At the present time we finalize research program, select methods. The experiments will start in autumn, – Galazhinsky stated.

Earlier the University reported that these researches were to result in new technologies, simulators, equipment, software, complex of physical exercises that will enable to reduce the time period of cosmonaut trainings increasing its efficiency.
