Russian orbital station is to be developed by 2023, – Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Thursday during live call-in.

“We are going to develop our own orbital station by 2023. It is a long-time perspective but nevertheless it is very important for us from national economic point of view since ISS we use for scientific purposes but from the ISS we can see only 5% of the territory of the Russian Federation while our own national station will enable us to see the whole territory of our huge country”, – Putin said.

He pointed out that the project is of great importance both for national economy and other special purposes.

“That is why we will definitely finish this project and without any doubts will control it”, – said the president.

At the present time rocket and space industry authorities discuss the viability of further ISS use, possibilities of cooperation in the field of space exploration and perspectives of new orbital station development.
