Russian ISS crew members Gennady padalka and Mikhail Korniyenko are going will open the hatch of Pirs docking compartment today at 17.14, Moscow time.
As GCTC specialists monitoring Padalka and Korniyenko’s actions for mission Control Centre based in Korolev city, Moscow region, the cosmonauts already have spacesuits on and are checking airlocking equipment.
G. Padalka and M. Korniyenko are going to spend more than 6 hours in the open space fulfilling more than 10 various tasks including scientific experiments, maintenance works moreover the cosmonauts will have to take photos during EVA.
Both Gennady Padalka and Mikhail Korniyenko have already performed spacewalk in the course of their previous flights. For G. Padalka this one will be the 10th in his space career. On the whole Padalka has spent more than 33 hours in the open space. For Mikhail Korniyenko this spacewalk will be the second one. During his previous EVA the cosmonaut was outside the station for 6 hours and 43 minutes.
