On May 17, the assembly of the head part of the “Proton-M” space rocket for the launch of the Russian communications satellite “Yamal-601” began at the Baikonur cosmodrome.

The assembly of the head part includes a series of technological operations: the installation of the “Yamal-601” satellite on a transition system, through which it is connected to the upper stage “Breeze-M”; electrical checks of the “assembly” of a spacecraft with a upper stage; installation of the head fairing and the electrical checks of head part.

Currently, the “Yamal-601” assembled with the transition system developed by the Khrunichev Space Center.

After completing the electrical checks of the “assembly” of the “Yamal-601” spacecraft with transition system, experts will assemble it with the “Breeze-M” upper stage.

The assembly of the space head will last for several days.

An international team of specialists from the French branch of Thales Alenia Space company, the Swedish company RUAG Aerospace, the Khrunichev Space Center will work on it.

The launch of the “Proton-M” launch vehicle with the “Breeze-M” upper stage and the “Yamal-601” satellite will be performed in the interests of Gazprom Space Systems.
