The “Proton-M” carrier rocket with the “Breeze-M” upper stage, launched from the Baikonur cosmodrome on May 30 at 20:42 (Moscow time), successfully delivered the “Yamal-601” telecommunication satellite into the target orbit in the interests of the Russian satellite operator Gazprom Space systems.

The new satellite has been taken under control by the manufacturer.

The “Yamal-601” project is part of the Federal Program for the Development of Television and Radio Broadcasting in the Russian Federation.

The “Yamal-601” has become the most powerful communication satellite in the Russian orbital group.

The launch and flight of the launch vehicle, as well as the upper stage, passed without any problems.

The separation of the satellite from the “Breeze-M” was in the morning of May 31 at the estimated time – approximately 9 hours after the launch of the rocket.

The launch weight of the satellite, manufactured by the French division of Thales Alenia Space (TASF), was more than five tons.

The “Yamal-601” will replace the “Yamal-202” satellite in orbit and will provide fixed-line communications and data transmission services in the C-band in a large part of Russia, as well as in the CIS, Europe, and the Middle East and Southeast Asia.

In addition, “Yamal-601” will provide for users on the territory of Russia communication services and high-speed Internet access.
