On July 30, 2019, at 08:56 (Moscow time) successful launch of the “Soyuz-2.1a” launch vehicle from the Plesetsk State Test Space Center in the Arkhangelsk Region was performed with the Russian communications spacecraft “Meridian”.

The launch of the carrier rocket and the launch of the spacecraft into the calculated orbit took place in the normal mode.

Three minutes after the launch, the “Soyuz-2.1a” rocket was took under control by Main Test Space Center.

At the estimated time, the spacecraft “Meridian” was launched into the target orbit and took under control by the aerospace forces.

A stable telemetric connection was established and maintained with the satellite. The onboard systems of the “Meridian” spacecraft are functioning normally.

The satellite is designed to provide communication of ships and aircrafts in the Northern Sea Route with coastal, ground stations, expansion of the network of satellite communication stations in the northern regions of Siberia and the Far East.
