PJSC”Proton-PM” (part of the integrated structure of NPO “Energomash”) within the framework of existing contracts conducted a final test of the RD-276 liquid-propellant rocket engine on November 14, 2019.

The first-stage engines for “Proton” heavy-class launch vehicles (RD-253, RD-275, RD-276) have been mass-produced at the Perm plant since 1965.

The last forced modification – RD-276 – was manufactured in 2005.

During this time, “Proton-PM” manufactured more than 90 sets of engines and conducted about 770 fire tests.

In the entire history of production, the Perm enterprise has produced more than three thousand engines of various modifications of the first stage of the rocket.

The designer of RD-276 is NPO “Energomash”, the customer is the Khrunichev Center, the manufacturer of “Proton” launch vehicles.

Engine reliability factor is 0.998.

For all the years of operation, it had no failure in flight, which is a unique case in the history of rocket engine manufacturing.

The “Proton” launch vehicle with Perm engines launched the main modules of the International Space Station, GLONASS satellites, the “Salyut” and “Mir” manned orbiting stations, interplanetary stations for the exploration of the Moon, Mars, Venus, research satellites and communication satellites in the interests of Russian and foreign customers.
