The next spacewalk of Russian cosmonauts from the International Space Station, which is planned before the end of 2020, will be performed from the new module for the first time, a spokesman for the Roscosmos press service said.
Currently, exits under the Russian program are carried out from the Pirs module. In 2021, it should be separated from the station and de-orbited to make room for the Science module. After that, exits will be conducted from the “Search” module.
“By the end of 2020, it is planned to leave MIM-2 (the Search module. – Ed. Note) – for the first time in history, which is due to the nature of the work that cosmonauts will perform in extravehicular activities,” said a representative of the press service “.
In the rocket and space industry, this exit under the designation EVK-47, which will be carried out by cosmonauts Sergei Ryzhikov and Sergei Kud-Sverchkov, is tentatively scheduled for November.
The previous Russian release took place in May 2019.
Earlier it was reported that the exit under the designation EVK-47 was planned in October 2019, but was postponed to 2020. Its tasks included replacing the thermal control system panel of the Zarya module of the Russian segment of the ISS, removing scientific equipment and installing new equipment on the Russian Zvezda and Poisk modules, as well as dismantling the Soyuz spacecraft element located outside the station for a long time the basis for the decision to extend the life of the ship for more than 210 days.
Now the Russians Anatoly Ivanishin and Ivan Wagner, as well as the American Christopher Cassidy, are flying on the ISS, whose return to Earth is scheduled for October 22. It is expected that on October 14, a crew of Russians Sergey Ryzhikov and Sergey Kud-Sverchkov and American Kathleen Rubins will be sent to replace them.
