Roscosmos Director General Dmitry Rogozin reported that Russia is going to launch two new modules to the International space station.

Late September it was already mentioned that in April and in September next year Russia is going to launch new modules to the ISS for the first time in 11 years.

“We plan to launch multipurpose Nauka laboratory module in 2021. In half a year there is a docking module Prichal (Quay) to be launched”, – said Rogozin at IAC-2020.

Nauka module will be orbited with the help of Proton-M booster from Baikonur. In thenodule above all there will be additional sleeping chamber for Russian cosmonaut and spare toilet.

Prichal module will be launched as a part of specialized cargo vehicle Progress M-UM by Soyuz-2.1b booster  also from Baikonur. Prichal will have six docking nodes to receive new modules. Manned and cargo vehicles.

Currently Russian ISS segment comprises five modules: Zarya functional cargo block (launched in 1998), Zvezda service module (2000), Pirs docking module (2001), Poisk (2009) and Rassvet (2010) research modules.
