Roscosmos continues monitoring the emergencies via the Russian orbit group. During the period from March 4 to March 11, 2021, over 932 thousand square kilometers of data was sent to Russia’s Emergencies Ministry with about 112 thousand square kilometers of data sent to the International Charter on Space & Major Disasters.

At the request of Russia’s Emergencies Ministry, the following events were monitored during the abovementioned period:

  • Ice crossings in several districts of the Russian Federation;
  • Karst holes in Perm Krai, Chelyabinsk and Nizhny Novgorod Oblasts;
  • Flooding in Vologda Oblast, Nenets Autonomous Okrug, Altai Krai;
  • Petrochemicals spill in Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug;
  • Flooding in Lipetsk Oblast;
  • Flooding danger in Dagestan, Kabardino-Balkaria, Stavropol Krai;
  • Train derailment consequences in Khabarovsk Krai;
  • Flooding danger in Krasnoyarsk Krai;
  • Break containment of gas pipeline consequences in Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug;
  • Break containment of oil pipeline consequences in alo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug.

As part of the International Charter on Space & Major Disasters activities, the satellites monitored the following events:

  • Hurricane consequences in the Philippines;

Based on the natural and technological disasters media coverage worldwide, the following events were scheduled for satellite observations:

  • Volcanic eruptions in Indonesia and Guatemala.

Roscosmos continues prompt cooperation with Russian Emergencies Ministry for timely reacting to flooding or fires and performing space monitoring of the affected territories.
