Yesterday, the upper chamber of the Russian parliament at its session approved amendments to legislation concerning public-private partnerships in space activities.

The bill provides for mechanisms for concluding concession agreements and public-private partnership agreements in the field of space activities.

The document grants Roscosmos State Corporation the powers of a concessor/public partner under these agreements and defines the objects of such agreements, which include space infrastructure that is immovable property and technologically related space objects (including spacecraft).

The adoption of the law will make it possible to attract private investment in the space industry and will facilitate the deployment and increase of the orbital constellation of spacecraft, as well as the development of ground-based space infrastructure. The law was previously adopted in three readings by the State Duma of the Russian Federation.
