3 New GLONASS Satellites to be Launched in 2014

3 launches of GLONASS navigational system satellites are planned for 2014, – Aerospace Defense Force commander major-general Alexander Golovko stated.

The commander specified that 3 GLONASS launches (in 1st, 2nd and 4th quarters of the year) were planned for 2013 to maintain and develop GLONASS system orbital group due to which 5 GLONASS satellites were to be orbited.

Soyuz-2 booster successfully orbited Glonass-M on April 26, 2013, in July Proton-M with 3 GLONASS satellites crushed at Baikonur.
We plan 3 launches of such satellites for 2014, – Golovko stated.

According to general’s words the whole orbital group consists of about 120 space devices with active onboard equipment, with more than 70% of them including ISS and social-economic space devices controlled by Titov Test Space Centre.
