British communication satellite InmarSat 5-F1 separated from Briz-M upper stage and was placed under the management of the ordering party, – Roscosmos representative reported.

“The separation of space device from Russian upper stage was documented. Thus we’ve fulfilled our launch obligations and the satellite was placed under the ordering party’s management”, – the spokesman stated.

The satellite was manufactured by Boeing Satellite Systems Company. InmarSat space device is designed on the basis of BSS-702HP platform. Its service life in the orbit will last for 15 years. This is the 3rd InmarSat series satellite launched by Proton-M booster.

InmarSat Company ordered 3 Ka-band satellites amounting to about 1 billion dollars from American corporation Boeing in August 2010.

Every InmarSat-5 operates on geostationary orbit with flexible local area coverage. Upon placing into operation the satellites will provide the company with a wide range of mobile satellite communication services including broadband communication for deep sea ships, communication for airline passengers high resolution stream video.
