60 years ago on May 6, 1955 the first building on the territory of Baikonur City was laid. The city was designated for spaceport specialists to live and had different names in different times: Zarya town , Zvezdograd town, Leninsk city. Since December 1995 its official name is Baikonur city.

At 10:09:50, Moscow time, April 28, 2015, Progress M-27M cargo vehicle was launched by Soyuz-2.1a booster from Baikonur spaceport. The launch and the flight were nominal, but 1,5 seconds before vehicle was to separate from the 3rd stage of the booster telemetry data was lost. At that it was found out afterwards that the vehicle separated in time.

On April 10, 2015, in the integration building of #31 launchpad Progress rocket and space Centre and Yuzhny space centre specialists started preparing Soyuz-2.1a booster for the launch of Progress M-27M cargo vehicle. First, second and third stages of the booster are already placed on the working place, the first stage is being prepared for pneumatic tests.
