According to Eurockot company responsible for launch services with the help of Rokot booster European Space Agency (ESA) made arrangements about Sentinel-5p launch by this Russian booster.

In February 2012 Eurockot and ESA signed a contract for the launch of Sentinel-3A and Sentinel-2B satellites made in the framework of European environment and safety monitoring project called “Copernic” (GMES) with the help of Rokot booster from Plesetsk sapceport. The launch of these satellites is planned for the second quarter of 2015 and first quarter of 2016. Rokot booster extra launch was was also agreed upon.

At the present time Sentinel-5p satellite is being made by Airbus Defence and Space in Britain. The satellite weights about 900 kg and will monitor the condition of the air in the lower atmosphere with the help of TROPOM spectrometer.

Rokot booster will set the satellite into the sun-synchronous orbit about 830 km high.
