Soyuz-2.1b booster with Glonass-M space device was successfully launched from Plesetsk spaceport in Arkhangelsk region on June 14, 2014, – reported representative of  Russian Ministry of Defenсe press-office management on Aerospace Defenсe troops Alexey Zolotukhin. – On Saturday, at 21.17, Moscow time Aerospace Defence operational crew successfully launched medium class  booster Soyuz-2.1b with Glonass-M navigational satellite.

The launch took place as planned. At 00.48, Moscow time on June 15 Glonass Space device separated from Fregat upper stage and was set into the orbit.

Soyuz-2.1b modernized booster was made in accordance with Russian technology, from materials manufactured in Russia. The booster differs from the previous models by digital control system.

Glonass navigational satellite system devices have been launched from Plesetsk spaceport since February 26, 2011. That time the first new generation satellite Glonass-K was orbited by Soyuz-2.1b medium class booster.

Before that all GLONASS space devices were launched from Baikonur spaceport with the help of Proton heavy boosters.
