The first launch of new Russian Angara heavy booster from Plesetsk spaceport is scheduled for December 25, _ Roscosmos Head Oleg Ostapenko stated.

“The preparations are according to the schedule”, – he specified.

Angara boosters series is being designed and manufactured by Khrunichev Centre and comprises boosters from of various classes with carrying capacity from 1,5 up to 35 tons. The first manned launch with the help of Angara heavy booster is to take place from Vostochny spaceport in Amur region in 2018.

According to Roscosmos new Angara booster will enable Russia to move to a higher level of technological development and provide it with independent space access.

Angara will enable to orbit heavy space devices (to set them into geostationary orbit as well). All parts of the new booster are manufactured in Russia thus providing technological safety. Besides Angara booster uses ecologically friendly propellant – oxygen and kerosene.

Angara-A5 booster will orbit all kinds of space devices Proton was used to launch. Components of future Rusian manned spacecrafts will be also developed with the help of Angara (in unmanned mode).
