Angara to Orbit Commercial Satellite in 2016

The newest Russian heavy booster Angara-A5 will insert commercial satellite in the orbit during the next launch scheduled for 2016,- Khrunichev Centre Head Andrei Kalinovsky reported.

“The launch is scheduled for 2016, everything depends on the satellite. I suppose it will be a commercial launch. Whether it will be Russian or foreign device I don’t know yet, – he stated.

Angara complex is a new generation of module type boosters being developed on the basis of two universal rocket modules with oxygen-kerosene engines: URM-1 and URM-2. Angara series includes boosters from light to heavy with carrying capacity from 3,8 up to 35 tons (Angara-A7).
