For safety reasons new ISS crew will approach and dock with station in accordance with the traditional 2-days scheme, – Roscosmos reported.
ISS crews used to go to the station according to this scheme up to March 2013, then it was decided to shift to the short 6-hours one.
“Soyuz TMA-18M spacecraft that will be launched to the ISS from Baikonur on September 2, 2015 will approach the station and dock with it according to the traditional 2-days scheme”.
The decision was taken for safety reasins, – acting Roscosmos Head Aleksander Ivanov explained.
“Such scheme is more reliable and safe. The docking is planned for September 4”, – he stated.
On July 26, 2015 ISS accomplished debris avoidance maneuver increasing its orbit. This lead to significant changes of ballistic conditions and ISS maneuverability plan.
The launch of Soyuz TMA18M spacecraft with international crew comprising Sergey Volkov (Roscosmos), Aidyn Aimbetov (Kazakhstan) and Andreas Mogensen (Denmark, ESA) onboard is scheduled for September 2, 2015, and will take place from Baikonur spaceport.
