Russian cosmonaut Gennady Padalka who has recently set new world record on total flight duration spending in space 878 days is going to beat his own record and spend in space 1000 days, – GCTC spokesman reports.

Recent spaceflight (Soyuz TMA-16M landed on September 12, 2015) was the 5th one in his space career and lasted for 168 days. As a result Padalka spent onboard 878 days in total settingnew world record.

Besides in the course of this flight Russian cosmonaut performed his 10th spacewalk. Thus total duration of EVA exceeded 38 hours.

At the present time Gennady Padalka is passing post-flight medical checks and rehabilitation in GCTC.

The cosmonaut pointed out that during the flight he did all necessary physical exercises and followed medical specialists’ instructions. “It played an important part in my quick rehabilitation upon return to the Earth”, – he remarked.

Besides Padalka said that his half-a-year mission was a success both in regards of the flight and scientific program. All the problems onboard caused by the loss of two cargo vehicles were eliminated. The station “lives”, the crew of six people goes on working, – the cosmonaut concluded.
