Specialists of RSC Energia launched a new series of experiments to evaluate the man-machine interface of “Federation” spaceship.

In preparation for this stage of the experiments, the testers used technical documentation on the ship’s on-board systems, on the basis of which they formed proposals for the development of information-control formats for the propulsion system, power supply systems, life support, traffic control, navigation, etc.

“Since the “Federation” is a transport ship and the main activity of the crew on board the ship is the control of the on-board systems, this part of the work is especially important.

Information management formats are what is displayed on the cosmonaut’s console: a pictorial representation of on-board systems, processes and flight modes, as well as signaling and commands that the crew can issue.

“Gradually, during a series of experimental evaluations, we will formulate proposals on the human-machine interface, which in turn will give developers a complete idea of what the crew needs to manage this ship, “said Deputy Head of the Space Center of RSC “Energia” Mark Serov.

A series of experimental evaluations will last until the end of the year.

In the plans of specialists – working out all modes of the ship’s flight: from launching to docking and transition to the flight path to the Moon.
