Today, on October 10, 2018, a traditional press conference of the “Soyuz MS-10” spacecraft crews was held at the Testing and Training Complex of the GCTC at Baikonur.

The cosmonauts and astronauts answered questions from journalists and spoke about the plans for the upcoming expedition to the International Space Station (ISS).

Earlier, the State Commission approved the crews of the ship.

The Roskosmos cosmonaut Alexey Ovchinin and NASA astronaut Nick Hague were part of the main crew of “Soyuz MS-10”.

Their backups are Roskosmos cosmonaut Oleg Kononenko and CSA astronaut David Saint-Jacques.

For the first time in the history of the ISS, Russian cosmonauts Alexei Ovchinin and Oleg Kononenko will be station commanders.

Alexey Ovchinin declared that he was glad, that he would be at the station in the year of the 20th anniversary of the ISS.

At the same time, he noted that the ISS should function as long as possible.

In addition, Alexey Ovichinin told about the experiment on 3D printing of mouse tissues in space: “This experiment will be conducted for the first time. There will be two series of experiments. Immediately after the docking will be approbation of the printer itself. We will go from simple to complex. In the future, the results will be returned to Earth, scientists will make adjustments: if everything goes well, we will do more complicated things. ”

In accordance with the flight program of the International Space Station, on October 11, 2018, at 11:40 Moscow time, the “Soyuz MS-10” spacecraft is scheduled to launch from the site No. 1 (Gagarinsky Start) of the Baikonur Cosmodrome.

During the long expeditions 57/58, the ISS crew will have to perform a large number of scientific experiments.

In addition, during the expedition it is planned to carry out works in the open space.

The crew will also have to work with cargo ships, maintain the onboard systems of the International Space Station, conduct onboard photography, video filming, etc.
