On February 18 at the Baikonur cosmodrome, the prelaunch preparation of a space rocket with the satellite “Egyptsat-A” began.

The “Soyuz-2” launch vehicle with the “Fregat” upper stage was installed on the launch complex № 31 of the Baikonur Cosmodrome.

The launch of the satellite is scheduled for Thursday, February 21, 2019, at 19:47 Moscow time.

The flight path of the launch vehicle will pass to the north from the Baikonur cosmodrome, over the territory of Kazakhstan – Aktobe and Kostanay regions and Russia – over the Ural region.

The “Egyptsat-A” satellite is designed for imaging of the Earth’s surface with high resolution and was created in the interests of the Government of the Arab Republic of Egypt.

After the flight test program has been completed, the satellite control will be transferred to the Egyptian side.
