Spacewalk is dangerous and hard job.

Walking into the unknown, you need to be absolutely confident in yourself.

The necessary skills are helped to form a training on the specialized “Exit-2” simulator, where cosmonaut Sergey Ryzhikov (backup of Alexander Skvortsov) successfully completed the test session this week.

Sergey Ryzhikov is an experienced cosmonaut, who has already visited the ISS, so the “Exit-2” simulator is not new to him.

The work in open space of cosmonauts is a combination of various types and levels of practical and mental activity, differs from other types of work in a number of specific features.

Spacewalk is a set of technical devices, special equipment, accessories, technical documentation, with the help of which the crew performs the task, assigned to it in the open space.

The Russian crew members of the ISS expeditions must be prepared to perform a whole range of typical operations during work in open space, including, for example, moving along the outer surface of the station, removing and transporting the installation handrails, installing scientific equipment, and a number of planned emergency situations.

Sergey Ryzhikov’s readiness to work in open space was checked by GCTC specialists and representatives of RSC “Energia”.

During the test training, Sergey Ryzhikov showed a good level of theoretical knowledge and practical skills for performing typical operations in open space.
