The “Progress MS-12” cargo spaceship on July 31, 2019 at 18:29:17 (Moscow time) successfully docked to the “Pirs” module of the International Space Station.

The time from launch to docking was 3 hours 19 minutes, which makes it the fastest spacecraft in the history of flights to the ISS.

The previous record belongs to the previous “Progress” – it reached the station in 3 hours and 21 minutes.

Earlier today at 15:10 (Moscow time) the spaceship was normally launched from the site № 31 of the Baikonur cosmodrome.

Its autonomous flight was controlled by the specialists of the Main Operational Flight Management Team of the Russian Segment of the International Space Station at the Mission Control Centert.

The cosmonauts of Roscosmos – the ISS commander Alexey Ovchinin and the flight engineer Alexander Skvortsov controlled the docking process with the ISS.

The “Progress MS-12” cargo ship delivered 1.2 tons of dry cargo to the ISS, more than a ton of fuel in the refueling system tanks, 420 kg of water in tanks, and 50 kg of compressed gas in cylinders.

In the packing of the cargo compartment – scientific equipment, components for the life support system, as well as containers with food products, clothing, medicines and personal care products for crew members.
