Five days after its official commissioning, the Resurs-P remote sensing satellite No.4 started transmitting target information to the Earth. This was reported by one of the divisions of Reshetnev JSC, which built the satellite.

The launch of “Resurs-P” number four took place on 31 March – it was taken up from the launch pad of Baikonur Cosmodrome by Soyuz-2.1b launch vehicle. And already in April the first image was transmitted to Earth – a road junction in Texas captured in high resolution.

Orbital tests lasted less than two months, after which the new remote sensing satellite, capable of performing a whole range of functions with equal success – from tracking natural resources to monitoring the Northern Sea Route – was put into operation. And its optical and near-infrared cameras began to survey the Earth’s surface regularly.
