On January 11, 1960, the Cosmonaut Training Center was formed in the Green (nowadays world famous Star) City.

In the late 1960s, the Center was named after Yuri Gagarin in memory of the first cosmonaut of the planet.

The history of the GCTC is inextricably linked with the origin and development of Russian manned space exploration.

During 60 years, the GCTC has created a unique system for preparing cosmonauts for flight, accumulated incredible experience in testing space technology and simulators, research work on the selection and training of cosmonauts.

Cosmonauts and specialists of the Center take part in the creation of new manned spacecrafts and technical training equipment for cosmonauts and in testing of scientific and technical products of space industry enterprises.

On behalf of the RussianSpaceNews.com we congratulate the GCTC management and staff with this anniversary !!!
