ISS orbit is to be increased by 1,5 km with the help of Progress cargo vehicle thrusters docked with the station at night on March 13, – the spokesman for Rocket and space industry reports.

The thrusters will be ignited at 03.54 Greenwich or 7.54 Moscow time) on March 13 and operate for 3 minutes and 38 seconds. AS a result of this maneuver the velocity of 420-ton orbital complex will increase by 0,49 m/s.

After station reboost maneuver the medium altitude of the ISS will be raised by 1,5 km. The minimal altitude of the station now amounts to 412,2 km while maximum one – to 430 km.

The spokesman also mentioned that reboost maneuver is accomplished before the launch of Soyuz TMA-12 cargo vehicle scheduled for March 26.
