ISS crews finished water survival trainings on the basis of # 179 Ministry of Emergency Situations Centre  situated in Noginsk, Moscow region.

The crews going to the ISS in 2015-2016 along with GCTC instructors have been having theoretical and practical water survival trainings for about 2 weeks.

Roscosmos cosmonauts have already had such water survival experience while most astronauts had these trainings for the first time in their life.

ISS-45/46 crew (Sergey Volkov (Roscosmos), Andreas Mogensen and Thomas Pesquet  (ESA) and ISS-47/48 crew (Alexey Ovchinin (Roscosmos), Oleg Skripochka  (Roscosmos) and Geoffrey Williams ( NASA) were the first to pass the trainings, ISS-46/47 astronauts Timothy Kopra (NASA) and Timothy Peake (ESA) and ISS-48/49 crews (Anatoliy Ivanishin (Roscosmos), Takui Onishi ( JAXA) and Kathleen Rubens (NASA) followed them.

The trainings were arranged by test and training teams comprising instructors, doctors, psychologists, divers, interpreters and other GCTC specialists as well as NASA, ESA and JAXA representatives.

Due to the well-coordinated teamwork cosmonauts and astronauts successfully accomplished all the tasks set and finished water survival trainings, that enabled not only to improve the skills in case of off-nominal landing but to unite the crews giving them cooperation experience.
