Group of cosmonauts (admission 2012) started survival trainings under desert or near desert conditions at Baikonur. Several days ago they had a theoretical course and now started training exercises.

The training was provided by Cosmonaut Training Department specialists, doctors and psychologists.

During this training exercise cosmonauts and cosmonaut candidates practiced the following activities:

–          Choosing the place for the camp;

–          Encamping;

–          Survival kit deployment;

–          Primary shelter building using parachute of descent module, lodgments and survival kit;

–          Main shelter building;

–          Water collection

The first crew comprising cosmonaut candidate Anna Kikina and GCTC instructors started training on Friday, July 18, at 9.30, local time. The crew will spend about two days in the desert.

The next to pass desert survival trainings will be cosmonauts Dmitry Petelin, Piotr Dubrov and Nikolay Chub.

The third crew made up of cosmonauts Andrei Fedyayev, Sergey Korsakov and Oleg Blinov.
