Russia and USA will work together to develop meteorite protection system, – The Head of Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations Vladimir Puchkov told the journalist after meeting of Russian American presidential commission working group on cooperation in the field of emergency situation prevention.

According to him the meeting discussed Russian experience in liquidation of Chelyabinsk meteorite consequences.
“We made a decision that developing system of people and land protection from space impact and stabilization of social infrastructure is a project to be jointly managed by FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) and Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations. – Puchkov said.

According to him new technologies unavailable in the world at the moment are needed in this field.
“New systems of space and other kinds of monitoring are needed; experts, scientists and specialists need to join their efforts. I believe that under the umbrella of Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations and FEMA and involving best specialists working in this field all over the world – from Canada, Europe, Chine, South-East Asia –we will be able to make innovational technological breakthrough and solve this problem”, – the Minister remarked.
