Moscow, July 3 – RIA Novosti. Russian resource-P Earth remote sensing satellite launched on June 25, 2013 sent its first test photo shots to the Earth, – Roscosmos press-office reported on Wednesday.

“The first test actuation of GEOTON special-purpose electrooptical supervision equipment installed on Resource-P satellite was conducted on July 2, 2013, after the mapping we received the first shots of the Earth. According to preliminary assessments of the specialists currently processing and analyzing the data the shots received meet the specified requirements and confirm satellite’s high operational and physical characteristics.

Onboard systems status was checked since the satellite has been launched, – Roscosmos reports. “Parameters characterizing the state of the satellite such as temperature, module pressure and power-supply voltage fall within normal limits. No remarks to the operation of on-board equipment. Flight tests of Resource-P space device are under way”.

Resource-P satellite was constructed by Progress State Research and Production Space Centre and designed to make Earth surface photos of 70 centimeters resolution ad to transmit the data received to the Earth via radio channel. New satellite will replace resource –DK space device, the only Russian civil satellite able to take high resolution photos. New satellite is able to provide hyperspectral and stereo shooting with 10-15 meters mapping.
