On May 25 the delegation of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency led by JAXA President Hiroshi Yamakawa visited the Cosmonaut Training Center.

Within the framework of the meeting with the head of GCTC, Hero of the Russian Federation, the honored test pilot of the Russian Federation Pavel Vlasov, further cooperation in the training of cosmonauts and astronauts in the crews was discussed.

Hiroshi Yamakawa and Pavel Vlasov noted the need for full-fledged cooperation in the implementation of such a grandiose international project as the ISS.

The GCTC fully fulfills its obligations to train foreign astronauts under the programs of the “Soyuz” spacecraft and the Russian segment of the ISS.

So, in February of this year, the GCTC began training JAXA astronaut Soichi Noguchi.

Then foreign guests, among whom was also Japanese astronaut Kimiya Yui, who was trained in the GCTC in 2014-2015 as part of the crew of the “Soyuz TMA-17M” together with the cosmonaut of Roscosmos Oleg Kononenko and NASA astronaut Chell Lindgren, went on a tour of the training base of the Center.

Kimiya Yui with great warmth spoke about the professionalism and benevolence of the instructors of the GCTC, who prepared himt for the first flight.

Hiroshi Yamakawa got acquainted with the “Soyuz” spacecraft and “Sokol” space suit.

Both sides were satisfied with the visit and are ready to continue fruitful cooperation.
