Based on the analysis of the measurement information of the automated system for warning of dangerous situations in near-Earth space, the destruction of the dumped block of tanks of the “Fregat-SB” upper stage, which was used on July 18, 2011 when the Russian astrophysical observatory “Spektr-R” was launched, was confirmed.

According to reports, the destruction occurred on May 8, 2020 in the time interval 08:00 – 09:00 (Moscow time) in the Indian Ocean (90.2 East 45.0 S).

At the time of destruction, the object was in orbit with the parameters:

Apogee height: 3,606 km;
perigee height: 422 km;
orbital inclination: 51.45º.

At present, a detailed collection of measurement information is underway, the number and parameters of the orbits of the detected fragments are clarified, as well as an analysis of their reliability.
