Three more Gonets-M low-orbit communication satellites are planned to be produced by the end of next year, the Reshetnev Information Satellite Systems (ISS) company reported.
Earlier it was reported that at the end of September and November-December 2020 it is planned to launch six Gonets-M satellites on two Soyuz-2.1b launch vehicles with Fregat upper stages from the Plesetsk cosmodrome. In the future, it is planned to launch these vehicles from the Vostochny cosmodrome.
The Gonets-D1M global low-orbit satellite system is designed to provide communications and data transmission in remote and hard-to-reach areas, including the Far North, as well as for industrial, transport and environmental monitoring.
In May 2020, materials posted on the Roskosmos website reported that the Gonets-D1M grouping was incomplete – 11 Gonets-M satellites, instead of the 12 that had been put (three vehicles in four planes). At the same time, eight devices have already worked out their guaranteed period.
