The launch pad for the launch complex of the Angara carrier rocket was delivered to the Vostochny cosmodrome along the Northern Sea Route in two months, the Center for Operation of Ground Space Infrastructure Facilities (Roscosmos enterprise) reported.
The launch pad weighing more than 2 thousand tons was sent from the city of Severodvinsk, Arkhangelsk Region, on the Barents ship in mid-July. It passed through the Arctic Ocean, the Bering Strait, the Bering and the Sea of ​​Okhotsk to the port of Sovetskaya Gavan, after which the table was loaded onto a barge and transported along the Amur and Zeya rivers to the city of Svobodny, Amur Region.
“The launch pad and the vacuum unit for the launch complex of the Angara space rocket complex have been delivered to the Vostochny cosmodrome,” the company’s website said in a statement.
The construction of the launch complex for “Angara” has been going on in Vostochny since 2019. Earlier it was reported that the first launch of the Angara-A5 rocket from Vostochny is expected in 2023 with the Oryol unmanned spacecraft.
