The Baikonur Cosmodrome is preparing to launch the next batch of the OneWeb satellite company spacecraft. In accordance with the comprehensive preparations schedule, the specialists from the Yuzhny Space Center (a branch of the Center for Operation of Ground-Based Space Infrastructure Facilities) and the Progress Rocket and Space Center (both parts of Roscosmos), completed the cycle of mechanical assembly of the 1st and 2nd stages of the Soyuz-2.1b launch vehicle.

The assembly was carried out at the technical complex of the Center for Testing Technical Complexes of the Yuzhny Space Center, in the assembly and testing facility of Site 31. Currently, the launch vehicle is in storage mode.

The launch of this Soyuz-2.1b carrier rocket with the Fregat upper stage and 34 OneWeb spacecraft is scheduled for the coming summer from the Vostok launch complex of Site 31 of the Baikonur Cosmodrome.

Today, the constellation of OneWeb satellites in low Earth orbit numbers 182 spacecraft, with hundreds of others to be launched. Low Earth orbit OneWeb spacecraft are designed to provide ground consumers with high-speed Internet directly via satellite communications. The orbital constellation will consist of 18 planes with 36 vehicles each.
