On Thursday, September 24,  Russian Ministry of Defence is going to launch Rokot booster with Rodnic communication satellites from Plesetsk spaceport in Arkhangelsk region.

Rokot light booster was developed on the basis of RS-18 intercontinental ballistic missile in the framework of conversion program. The booster is manufactured by Khrunichev Centre.

Rokot comprises  boost cluster igniting first and second stages and space head including Briz-KM upper stage, nose fairing, adapter system, interstage and payload compartment.

For the first time Rokot was launched on May 16, 2000. Up to the present time there have been 22 boosters launched from Plesetsk.

As it was reported earlier Russia will stop using Rokot after 2016.
