Russia Launched Satan in Frames of Conversion Program

Thirsday morning Strategic Missile Troops of Russia succesfully launched SS-18 Satan (Russian – РС-20Б) in frames of conversion program, representative of missile troops colonel Igor Egorov told jornalists.

“At 10:35 Moscow time operational teams of Strategic Missile Troops copleted successful launch in frames of conversion program from Dombarovsky launch base in Orenburg region”, — Egorov said.

Conversion program stipulates termination of the Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles (ICBM) through their launches aimed to orbit various spacecrafts and satellites.

Representatives of missile troops didn’t specify what kind of spacecrafts were orbited.

Heavy missiles РС-20(NATO classified SS-18 “Satan” are the world most powerful intercontinental missiles. The first test launch happened in 1973, taken into service in 1975.
