On-board computer failure in American ISS segment alarmed the crew on Saturday, by 3 p.m. computer operation was fully restored, – MCC representative reported.

“At about 5 a.m. on-board computer of American ISS segment failed. ISS crew was alarmed due to automatic warning system”, – the spokesman stated.

According to him after situation analysis the decision was made to switch American on-board computer lines to Russian back-up ones.

“Moscow MCC specialists and Huston MCC specialists switched necessary computer line to back-up ones of the Russian segments. The crew was set a task to accomplish earth commands on equipment diagnostics. The cosmonauts checked all computer command circuits of the station, tested and rebooted all the laptops. The incident was over by 3 p.m. when American computer restarted operation after the failure”, – the spokesman reported.

At the present time there are three crew members working onboard the ISS: Gennady Padalka (Roscosmos). Mikhail Korniyenko (Roscosmos) and Scott Kelly ( NASA).

Soyuz TMA-17M planned to be launched in July will bring to the station three more cosmonauts: Oleg Kononenko (Roscosmos), Kimiya Yui (JAXA) and Kjell Lindgren (NASA).
