On August 27 the Hero of the Russian Federation, Hero of the Soviet Union, USSR pilot-cosmonaut, executive director for manned space programs of the State Corporation “Roskosmos” Sergey Krikalev accepts congratulations on the anniversary – he turns 60!!!

A whole epoch in the history of cosmonautics is connected with Sergey Krikalev’s activity.

Sergey  Krikalev made his first flight from November 26, 1988 to April 27, 1989, and his sixth flight took place April 15 – October 10, 2005.

In his professional biography – work in the international crews at the station “Mir” and the International Space Station (ISS).

It was Sergey  Krikalev who was among those pioneers who “lived” a new “space house” in the Earth’s orbit.

The work of man on the ISS began with the crew of which he was a member.

Sergey Krikalev’s professional qualities were highly appreciated also by foreign colleagues – it was he who became the first Russian cosmonaut, who flew the American shuttle.

From 2005 to 2015, Sergey  Krikalev  kept a world record for the duration of a general stay in space – 803 days 9 hours 42 minutes.

For six space flights, Sergey  Krikalev  made eight spacewalks and has more than 40 hours of extravehicular activity.

For these flights Sergey  Krikalev was awarded two stars – the Hero of the Soviet Union and the Hero of the Russian Federation.

After returning from the sixth flight, Sergey  Krikalev  took the position of Deputy General Designer of RSC Energia.

From 2009 to 2014, Sergey  Krikalev – head of the outpost of the Russian manned space program – the Cosmonaut Training Center named after Yuri  Gagarin.

Sergey  Krikalev has reached truly stellar heights as an cosmonaut and now, on Earth, continues to work actively for the benefit of Russian cosmonautics in the position of executive director of the State Corporation “ Roskosmos” on manned space programs.

The versatility combined with diligence, perseverance, skills  and professionalism allowed Sergey Krikalev to succeed not only in the profession to which he devoted his life, but also in other fields of activity.

In addition to fruitful work in the space field, Sergey  Krikalev achieved heights in sport (aerobatics, swimming) and art.

His creative works are widely known, for example, a series of photographs of the Earth “Painting of the Creator” made by Sergey  Krikalev from the ISS.

Colleagues – Russian cosmonauts, foreign astronauts, employees of the space industry – know Sergey Krikalev as a man, who is truly devoted to his profession, the true conqueror of the space.
