On December 7 at RSC “Energia” a complex experiment is being conducted at the ergonomic testing stand to simulate the activity of the crew of the prospective manned spacecraft “Federation” during a manned flight.

The testers will have to work out for the first time a whole complex of flight operations in the course of a single cyclogram – to simulate the prelaunch preparation of the spacecraft, its launch into orbit, approuching and docking with the International Space Station (ISS).

The flight program will take about five hours to complete.

The actions of the crew of three people (commander, co-pilot and scientist, who is responsible for the implementation of the scientific program on board) are managed by the virtual Mission Control Center.

The analysis team helps cosmonauts to work with onboard systems and carry out the flight program.

The testing team consists of a team of specialists from RSC “Energia”: designers, test cosmonauts of the Corporation’s Flight Space Center, as well as representatives from the GCTC and from the Institute of Biomedical problems.

A series of experiments to assess the man-machine interface ofK “Federation” spaceship will last until the end of the year.

Based on the data obtained, operational documentation will be developed for the flight tests of the new ship.
