On Thursday International space station performed a maneuver to avoid collision with the old European booster’s Ariane 5 debris, – NASA reports.

According to specialists calculations if there was nothing done space debris could get dangerously close to the ISS – at the distance less than 400 meters. The maneuver was accomplished with the help of Progress cargo vehicle thrusters 2,5 hours before the supposed approach.

The medium altitude of the ISS increased by 0,9 km. The maneuver performed was of no danger for the crew members, it won’t affect Progress M-23M cargo vehicle launch to the ISS scheduled for April 9 either.
