On January 15, 2020, the Russian members of the ISS-63 main crew Nikolay Tikhonov and Andrey Babkin passed the test training on docking and “Orlan-ISS” spacesuit systems on the “Exit-2” simulator, the uniqueness of which is that it imitates the work of “Orlan-ISS” suits in the conditions of simulated weightlessness.

During the training the cosmonauts of Roscosmos demonstrated excellent skills in managing the autonomous spacecraft life support system for the “Orlan-ISS” spacesuit, as well as managing the systems of docking and spacewalking from the docking compartment of the Russian segment of the International Space Station.

The cosmonauts’ readiness for independent work on the preparation and use of the “Orlan-ISS” spacesuit kit and the implementation of docking in the Russian segment of the International Space Station was checked by specialists from the GCTC, Mission Control Center, RSC “Energia” (part of Roscosmos State Corporation) and NPP “Zvezda”.

Assessing the work of Nikolay Tikhonov and Andrey Babkin during the training, the commission concluded, that the crew did an excellent job with all the tasks and could be allowed to work in open space.
