On May 25 the delegation of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency led by JAXA President Hiroshi Yamakawa visited the Cosmonaut Training Center. Within the framework of the meeting with the head of GCTC, Hero of the Russian Federation, the honored test pilot of the Russian Federation Pavel Vlasov, further cooperation in the training of cosmonauts and astronauts in the crews was discussed. Hiroshi Yamakawa and Pavel Vlasov noted the need for full-fledged cooperation in the implementation of such a grandiose international project as the ISS.

On January 12, 1907, one of the greatest scientists, the founder of Soviet and Russian Cosmonautics Sergey Korolyov was born. This year we celebrate 110 years anniversary of Korolyov’s birthday.

On July 25, 1984, Soviet woman-cosmonaut Svetlana Savitskaya performed her spacewalk spending 3 hours 35 minutes in the open space. She became the first woman performing EVA.

On August 19, 1960 at 12.44.06, Moscow time, fifth space device Sputnik-5 with belka and Strelka dogs onboard was launched from Baikonur spaceport.

On Monday, June 15, NASA astronaut Peggy Witson training program was presented to GCTC. Woman-astronaut will be passing trainings together with Roscosmos cosmonaut Oleg Novitsky and ESA astronaut Thomas Pesquet as a part of ISS-50/51 mission crew going to the ISS in November 2016. Preflight training will end up by examination session and complex examination training.
