One-year ISS mission crew stood the test by 20 degrees frost im the forest of Moscow region, – GCTC press-office reports.

“In accordance with ISS-43/44 flight training program Roscosmos cosmonauts Gennady Padalka and Mikhail Korniyenko and their NASA colleague Scott Kelly had their autonomous complex training in case of emergency landing in marshy and forested area in winter”, – GCTC representative reported.

In spring 2015 Korniyenko and Kelly will fly to ISS and stay there for a year up to that moment all ISS crew worked onboard the station for half a year.

According to GCTC spokesman during the training in snowy forest the cosmonaut changed for thermal protective suit inside the descent module, built a tent and a lodge, made a signal fire and practiced how to render medical service.

Survival trainings are always monitored by specialists, instructors, doctors and psychologists. In case of off-nominal landing the cosmonauts have special survival kit stored in the descent module with everything necessary to survive on the Earth for several days after landing.
